TROLLEY SNATCHA FRI 27TH APRIL

DUB CARTEL MAIN ROOM TAKEOVER HOSTED BY TIKI WITH SPECIAL GUESTS

TROLLEY SNATCHA

Northampton born producer and DJ Zack Kemp, known to the music world as Trolley Snatcha, has risen through the ranks to become one of the biggest and most talked about names in UK bass music in the relatively short time since his debut release on Dub Police in 2009. Two years down the line and this exciting talent continues to impress with his unique high-octane and impactful take on dubstep and as his back catalogue steadily grows, he continues to win over fans across the globe, quickly developing a hectic touring schedule to match.

Music has always been a part of his life, growing up around his father who was an avid music enthusiast. Whilst his father never forayed into making music properly himself, it was he who first introduced Zack to production. Having spent his early teen years playing guitar in bands with friends, it was when his father brought home a copy of music production program Reason that his interest in making music accelerated.

The young producer first caught many people’s ears with his debut release ‘The Future’, which came out on Caspa’s Dub Police imprint in 2009. Being picked up fortuitously after sending some tunes to Caspa over the internet, it is testament to his production pedigree that he was immediately placed in the company of first rate producers like Emalkay, D1, The Others and Caspa himself. The track immediately put his name on the map, quickly becoming a staple in the record bags of some of the biggest DJs around.

Remaining with the Dub Police stable to this day, he has continued to showcase a steady flow of original productions, as well as a handful of remixes for the likes of Dreadzone, Caspa and Chase & Status – whose track ‘Blind Faith’ he recently took on – ensuring that his name remains on everyone’s lips. His subsequent releases for the label include the powerhouse ‘Circle K/We Rock The Forest’ single and the four track ‘One Trick Pony’ EP, on which he introduced a deeper side to his sound, proving himself to be a multi-talented producer with many strings to his bow.

When he is not in the studio, he is kept busy with a hectic touring schedule that has seen him travel the globe over the last eighteen months, touring throughout Europe and even as far afield as Australia and New Zealand on more than one occasion. He will be playing at a number of festivals this summer including Dour in Belgium and the institution that is Glastonbury festival.

Still in the early stages of his career, Kemp is biding his time and continuing to hone his sound, with huge prospects ahead of him. You can be sure that his is a name that you will be hearing a lot more from in The Future.

**** RECORD STORE DAY ****

Organisers have confirmed that Record Store Day, the annual celebration of independent record stores, will take place this year on Saturday April 21.

More than 150 shops are expected to participate, organiser Spencer Hickman of London’s Rough Trade East said, “Record Store Day is the perfect antidote to all the doom and gloom we hear about the music business. It’s a day of celebration fuelled by the enthusiasm of artists and fans for record stores.” Last year’s Record Store Day reached new heights with queues hundreds-strong forming outside some shops.

Key to the event are exclusive products available for one day only in participating stores.

ED SOLO

Sat 3rd March

Subtone Presents Iconic Artist on the Breaks, Drum N Bass & Dubstep scene ED SOLO!

Strangely enough for an artist named Ed Solo, this prolific producer used to be best known for his collaborations with other artists. Deekline, Krafty Kuts, Skool of Thought, drum ‘n’ bass legend Brockie – all have benefited from getting Ed alongside them in the studio. The east London lad who grew up listening to pirate radios and cut his teeth as a production assistant at the famous Sour studios really is a Jedi master of sonic science: drop the needle on an Ed Solo record and you’ll soon know about it – no one makes club music that cuts through a sound system quite like him.
